Singapore Issues Directive to Meta Over Rising Scam Threats

 Singapore has ordered Meta to implement anti-scam measure or face possible fines.

In a transcript published by the Ministry of Homes Affairs, Mr Goh Pei Ming, Minister of State Affairs at the Global Anti-Scam Submit in Singapore. He referred to Mr Jorij Abraham, Managing Director Global Anti-Scam Alliance, along with other distinguished guests, while addressing on the impact of scams and the ongoing anti-scam efforts.

An implementation directive was issued to Meta, requiring the company to introduce measures to address scam advertisements, accounts, profiles, and business pages impersonating key government officials on Facebook.

This directive was issued to Meta because Facebook is one of the top platform used by scammers.

Compliance with the directive is mandatory, and failure to do so may result in stuff penalties, including fines of up to 1 million Singapore dollars.
