Anthropic Targets India for Global Expansion, Second Asia-Pacific Office Set for 2026
Anthropic, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, announced another major plan for its global expansion to the Indian market, with a new office planned in Bengaluru. This strategic expansion has been confirmed for early 2026 and will mark Anthropic's second office in Asia Pacific region after Tokyo.
Anthropic is an artificial intelligence startup company co-founded in 2021 by Dario Amodei, Daniela Amodei, Jared Kaplan, Jack Clark, and Ben Mann. The company builds, interprets, and develops steerable AI systems, with its first product, Claude, acting as an AI assistant handling task at any scale.
The Japan office, located in the country's capital, Tokyo, was the first office announced in the Asia Pacific region on Thursday, August 7, 2025, with Hidetoshi Tojo appointed as Head of Japan.
According to Anthropic, CEO and co-founder Dario Amodei will be visiting India this week to meet with public officials.
As Dario stated: "India is compelling because of the scale of its technical talent and the commitment from the Indian government to ensure the benefits of artificial intelligence reach all areas of society, not just concentrated pockets.”
