Sony Appoints Kenji Tanaka as New President and CEO, Kimio Maki Becomes Chairman

 In a recent announcement by Sony Group, Kenji Tanaka, Senior Vice President of Sony Corporation, was appointed President and CEO of Sony Corporation, while Kimio Maki, the current President and CEO, was appointed Director and chairman of Sony Corporation. These appointments as announced are expected to take effect on April 1, 2026.

In a comment, Kenji Tanaka said: "Based on our mission to create the future of entertainment through the power of technology together with creators, I aim to contribute to the Sony group creative entertainment vision by further concentration corperate resources on creation technology "

In his remark, Kimio Maki said: "We aim to establish a business structure for maintaining profitability and growth strategy amidst a rapidly changing business environment, a smooth transition to a management structure that focuses on the next generation is essential to sustainable growth, and we have determined that now is the optimal timing.
